Our Teaching Philosophy

At Encourage Yoga, we believe that Yoga is much more than system of poses displaying the physical attributes of the practitioner as is common today to Western perception. It's a subtle practice in which the aspirant aims to achieve wholeness at the deepest spiritual level. The practice of Yoga can be a profoundly powerful tool for all students and can help to bring balance and well-being into our daily lives.

We believe that it is important to have a firm foundation into the background of Yoga to give the practice context and outline the practical application to the individual. By incorporating elements of Asana, Massage Therapy, Individual Assessment and Meditation, our intention is to create a space in which people can begin to explore and develop the deeper aspects of themselves through the practice of Yoga.

What's Included - In Detail

20 hours of Guided Yoga Lessons

The days will start with a morning meditation, followed by a morning yoga session to welcome the day. This morning class invites you to slow down and create space for stillness, whilst nourishing the joints, ligaments, tendons and fascia. This class will focus on only a couple of simple poses aimed at deepening one’s experience both physically and mentally.

After breakfast, there will be a practise session focused on the core fundamental aspects of Yoga. The aim of this class is to introduce the core fundamental elements essential to creating an effective Yoga practice. Core Fundamentals will focus on key postures and principles needed to build a solid, core foundation and general understanding for the mechanics of a more dynamic practice. These will be introduced at the beginning of the week and worked with throughout the course of the retreat.  

The evening practise welcomes you to explore, rediscover and play. This session incorporates elements of yoga, martial arts, dance and play into a seamless journey of physicality.  Playfulness invites us to revisit our child-like nature and become truly creative, strengthening the imagination and re-awakening the Spirit.


2 hours individual one-on-one attention

Each student will be offered the chance to have a one-on-one session. This session will focus on the needs of the individual and will create a personalised training structure tailored to the specific needs of the individual.

We are all unique and different, each individual process of transformation needs to be considered carefully.


1.5 Hours of Massage

Bodywork is an important part of the healing process that is often overlooked. During the week with us, we will arrange for you to have focused healing sessions. Bodywork aims to restore and re-balance the energy system of the body and helps to create an environment for growth, health and well-being. The modalities we offer include Thai Yoga Massage, Tuina Massage and Acupuncture/Acupressure. We will discuss this with you when you arrive.

Additional massage sessions can be arranged, if time allows.


6 nights in an amazing location surrounded by nature

The retreat is nestled into the amazing mountain side of the Swiss Alps. You will be provided with either shared or private accommodation in our luxury tents. The tents provide home comforts needed for a restful week while also allowing nature have its natural therapeutic affect. You will wake up to spectacular, scenic views and have access to magical forests, serenity and fresh air, right from your doorstep.


All your meals and nutritional requirements

Your meals are prepared with fresh ingredients and made on-site. Delicious, vital meals, snacks, juices and smoothies will be provided throughout the day with unlimited fresh mountain water.


Excursions

Over the week, you will have a chance to visit some of the most breath-taking elements of the Swiss Alps. Whether it is a mountain hike, a river cruise or lake meditation. We will organise any excursions you wish to participate in. These excursions will take place on Wednesday after the morning practise and you will arrive back in time for dinner.


Transport to and from the main train station and/or airport

We will transfer you to/from the main train station and/or airport. To ensure we use minimal energy, we will arrange this in conjunction with the other students to ensure group pick up and drop off.


Other

We will also ensure you have everything you need to facilitate your stay. This includes: Sleeping Arrangements, Yoga Mats, Blocks, Towels, Straps and Cushions.

Bell tENTS

You will spend five nights in luxury with our unique canvas bell tents.Stunning nature meets modern luxury.  Much more than a place to sleep, Encourage Retreats combines elegance, space and taste to cater to all your home comforts. Each premium bell tent offers a choice of a queen size bed or two single beds, fine linens, plush towels and a shared bathroom. 

Each bell tent includes bed linen, lighting, lounge area with coffee table and reading chair and an outdoor space to enjoy the view.

Encourage Retreats includes a communal dining tent, open group activity space, an enclosed yoga studio and massage and healing tent

A Typical Day

The core structure of the day is between 10.00 am - 18.30 pm when the main instruction, classes and therapy will be conducted.

There will also be daily morning and evening sessions which are optional and are not mandatory.
